writing

i have started writing some of my own stuff recently. i always did from time to time, but now it seems to be a more fequent 'time to time'! I love it, its just such a great outlet for creativity. I write a bit in my band and when four different thoughts and viewpoints (and tastes!!) come together to form something, its just beezer. The guys keep me humble - used to hate bringing ideas to them in case of ridicule, but soon realised thats a good thing and i now have no fear bringing any ideas to the fore because that means that if they like one of them or its fitting into what we are doing, then they must really like it. Dont ever be scared to bring an idea, it might not be the best one or right just for that time, but the good ones will get there.

In my very limited experience of writing songs, sharing is refreshing and if you can get people who can honestly and sensitively critique what your doing, do it. Also, if you are in a band and dont play a 'lead instrument', still dont be afraid to explore and come up with ideas. Some bands have one songwriter but in ours, all four of us do the work.

keep 'er lit!

Totally agree with you. I'm not writing songs, but writing on the "What is the more?" blog has been an amazing outlet for me to share ideas and be a forum for discussion.

Magda once said something about God giving us stuff and needing to get it out there. If it's God-given, then surely we need to be speaking out as much as possible and allowing ourselves to be challenged and honed. Here's to more "offerings".
